Sessions/Tracks

Central Nervous system plays a major role in awareness, movements, sensations, thoughts, speech and memory. It is responsible for integrating sensory information and responding accordingly. The spinal cord serves as a conduit for signals between the brain and the rest of the body. It also controls simple musculoskeletal reflexes without input from the brain. The disorders that affect brain and spinal cord is known as CNS Disorders. The global CNS therapeutic market is expected to reach USD 128.9 billion by 2025. The main aim of this session is to understand the parts of CNS and their disorders.

Session on Behavioural Neurology
Behavioural neuroscience is the study of the brain mechanisms underlying behaviour. This is important for understanding how the normal brain works to support cognition, emotion and sensorimotor function. Two fields associated with behavioural neurology are neuropsychiatry and neuropsychology. This session will provide a deeper understanding on how and why things go wrong in the brain in various neurological and psychiatricdisorders.

Session on Neurodegenerative Disorders
Neurodegenerative disorders are the conditions that results in degeneration or death of the nerve cells. This causes problems with mental function (called dementia's) or movement (called ataxia). It can be severe or life-threatening. It depends upon the type. Most of them are incurable. Treatments may help to improve symptoms, increase mobility and relieve pain.

Spinal cord disorders cause various patterns of deficits depending on which nerve tracts within the cord or which spinal roots outside the cord are damaged. Disorders affecting spinal nerves, but not directly affecting the cord, cause sensory or motor abnormalities or both only in the areas supplied by the affected spinal nerves. Spinal cord disorders can cause permanent severe neurologic disability. For some patients, such disability can be avoided or minimized if evaluation and treatment are rapid.

Session on CNS Biomarkers
Biomarkers are important tools for understanding disease mechanism, developing more effective treatments, and improving the quality of patient care. The discovery of biomarkers for CNS disorders has gained considerable interest within the pharmaceutical industry due to the many unmet needs in current treatments and diagnostics. Here we discuss the role of CNS biomarkers in early discovery, in drug development, and for future diagnostics. We also discuss the different disease segments, describing gaps in treatment and limitations of current methods of diagnosis. This session also addresses the growth drivers and growth inhibitors that can affect CNS biomarker adoption.

The disability associated with the functioning of the neurological system and brain is known as Neurodevelopmental disorders. People with neurodevelopmental disorders can experience difficulties with speech and language, behaviour, motor skills, memory, learning and other neurological function. Evaluation and treatment of these disorders are difficult. Treatment involves a combination of pharmaceuticals, professional therapy and home-school-based programs.

A Neuron imparts its electrical movement to different cells by discharging chemicals at the Junction of the two cells, that procedure is known as Neurochemical transmission. Chemical transmission is the major means by which nerves communicate with one another in the nervous system. The compound substances which exchange an electrical drive from a nerve cell to its objective cell are known as neurotransmitters.

Neuropsychiatry is combination of both Psychiatry and Neurology which focuses on disorders related to mental health. Neuropsychiatric conditions are mental disorders that are typically related to diseases that originate from the nervous system. These diseases affect the ability to learn, work, and emotionally cope. Researchers in this field are making great effort in determining the biological basis on these diseases. Neuropsychiatrist works along with additional Neuroscience clinicians, namely neurosurgeon and neurologist, to deliver complete care to the patients.

The branch of medicine concerned with disease of nervous system is known as Neuropathology. This field deals with the study of diseases related to nervous system tissue, usually in the form of either small whole autopsies or surgical biopsies. It is a subspecialty of neurology, anatomic pathology, and neurosurgery. Diseases with diverse genetic and etiologic features have very similar pathological and Clinical characteristics.

Neuromuscular disorders are disorders of the nerves that control the voluntary muscles. One of the causes is the immune system disorder and genetic. More than 2 million people in the United States are affected by such form of neuromuscular diseases and about 30% of them are under the age18. Diagnosis includes NCV test, biochemical, genetic test, a multi-step process like muscle biopsy etc. The motive of this session is to understand the origin of Muscular dystrophy, Lambert-Eaton syndrome and neuromuscular junction disorder. Further there will be an interactive conversation on Hyper reflexia, Spasticy and its prevention.

Session on Neuroplasticity
Neuroplasticity also known as brain plasticity. It is an umbrella term that encompasses both non-synaptic plasticity and synapticplasticity. It refers to change in synapses and neural pathways due to changes in environment, neural processes, thinking, behaviour and emotions. The main aim of this session is to understand the neuroplasticity, advances in the Neurite remodelling and How to increase Neural-Connections.
